Check Your Pantry, Philadelphia: Walmart’s Great Value Fruit Cocktail Recalled Over Lead — Sold in Pennsylvania
If you shop at Walmart, take 30 seconds and check your pantry. One canned fruit product sold at Walmart — including in Pennsylvania — has been recalled because it may contain elevated levels of lead.
The 30-second check
The recalled product is Great Value Fruit Cocktail in Fruit Juice from Concentrate, 15 oz (425 g) can. A can is part of this recall only if all three of these match:
- UPC: 078742369570
- Lot code: 6FCB 04 C2263
- Best if Used By: SEP 01 2027
If even one code is different, your can is not part of this recall. No other lots and no other Great Value products are affected.
Why lead matters, in plain words
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says there is no known safe level of lead exposure. Lead is especially harmful to young children, whose brains and nervous systems are still developing, and to people who are pregnant. That is why a canned fruit — the kind of staple many families keep for kids — is worth checking carefully.
The recall covers 44,064 cans from Pacific Coast Producers of Lodi, California. The FDA classified it as a Class II recall on October 20, 2026, and the recall is ongoing. The cans were sold at Walmart stores in only seven states: Alabama, Arizona, Louisiana, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Washington, and Wyoming.
What to do if your can matches
- Do not eat it.
- Throw it away, or take it back to Walmart and ask about a return (the FDA notice does not promise a refund).
- If you are worried that you or your child already ate it, talk to your doctor or pediatrician.
